Anti-psych, gravel rockers Shaus, return in tyre screeching cacophony with their second EP, II. You've already had a taste of the sleazy, yobbed out 'Scabs' and the chugging urgency of 'Lockridge'. They're joined here by the synth driven psycho-pop of Ampersand, the wailing, cascading 'Say Start', and 'Weed Brunch Tinnies' - the 21st Century FIFO's 'Working Class Man'. The Shaus sound has matured since their first EP, adding Alwyn (Boys, Boys, Boys) to the mix has pushed the synth and the hooks to the fore. Whilst recording with Al Smith at Bergerk Studios has helped bring the intensity of a Shaus live show into stereos everywhere. II is a slice of West-Australiana to sit beside contemporaries, Last Quokka and Dennis Cometti, as well as past acts, The Panics and The Triffids.
