Shaus is a guttural, bare knuckle rock outfit featuring a number of familiar faces. Brandon Wilks (Wizard Sleeve, Sharon) on vox is the lit-rock focal point; Ryan Nash (Cat Black, Shit Bird) is a force of nature lead guitarist; Leyla (Cat Black) hits the drums harder than anyone in Perth; and Alwyn (Boys Boys Boys, Bad Nutrition) on keys fills out the sonic riot with noise, bass and effects.
Recorded by Stefen Records, the four original tracks are blistering cuts that subvert their heavy rock derivative into a bleeding squall of riffs and noise. An awesome live act, on record Wilks' narative driven lyrics are given just a little more room to breathe, while Nash lets loose at every opportunity and Leyla's relentless stomp pushes the agenda forward.
The remixes are no less brutal. Alwyn under his moniker Floor Lemons is responsible for the frightening Dollar Savings (Floor Lemons Citric Acid Remix), while the doom laden Smile//Compliment (DOS4GW Remix) is undoubtedly a highlight and Switchcutter's Come In Spinner Remix is both faithful and an unexpected drum and bass freak out.
